I heard that auto insurance companies will cancel your policy, causing you to lapse, if they find out you are leaving them, is that true? I am planning on buying a new auto policy this week that will go in effect on Apr 1 and faxing in my request to cancel my current policy on that same day, am I safe?
I am comparing prices for car insurance. I have had State Farm forever. After talking to them and asking them what I should look for when shopping for car insurance is a policy that wont cancel you or raise rates if you have an accident. We have made claims in the past (storm damage and I hit a tree stump – no actual vehicle to vehicle accidents) and our rates have not gone up. Do other companies do the same? What about Traveler’s Auto Insurance?
The Student Drive will always be driving with his parents, who have insurance on all cars. Is he required to have Insurance? Or will the Parents Policy cover him?
i need auto insurance any suggestions which company truly saves you money ?
As the student drivers parent, is my current auto insurance coverage in effect and still valid (for me and my 16 yr old) when my 16 year old student driver is driving my vehicle (supervised driving\practice), even though I have not added them as a driver on my auto insurance policy. We live in Illinois. After the student driver receives their official drivers license am I required to add them as a driver to my auto ins policy, or am I and this new driver still covered by my policy because I have given them permission to operate my vehicle?
Cheap Car Insurance For Young Drivers – Six Ways to Save
If you are a teen-age driver or if you are a parent trying to help your child find good auto insurance, then you know how expensive it can be. Inexperienced, young drivers are statistically more likely to be involved in a collision. Young male drivers are seen as a very high risk. Consequently, the auto insurance carrier will require higher insurance premiums. If you are searching for ways to stretch your household budget, knowing how to find the lowest auto insurance premiums will certainly help.
Add the Young Driver to an Existing Policy
Nearly every insurance company offers discounted rates for particular portions of the policy. You need to know what to ask. The amount of the discount, and the exact types of discounts, will vary from one company to the next, which is why it is a good idea to get multiple quotes. If a young driver is on the same insurance policy with parents who have a clean driving record and already low rates, this will be less costly than a young driver getting his or her own policy.
Excellent Grades May Equal Low Insurance Rates
If you are a student who maintains a ‘B’ grade point average or better, most insurance companies will offer discounts on your car insurance. The logic here is simple and statistics prove the validity: young people who earn and maintain good grades tend to be more responsible and mature. Translation? Responsible and mature young people are usually not risk-takers when they get behind the wheel. Less risk means lower insurance rates.
Complete Driver Education Classes
You can expect to get lower rates with most companies for taking a certified driver education course. Be sure to indicate that you have done this and make sure that you can provide a certificate proving completion of the classses.
Occasional Driver
Auto insurance companies will also offer lower rates to people who do not drive very often. The details will be different from one to the next, but be sure to investigate. Occasional drivers inherently carry less risk to the insurer.
Always Get Multiple Quotes
Never underestimate the importance of getting multiple quotes. Comparison shopping will reveal the best auto insurance rates for your unique situation. Since each individual insurance carrier uses slightly different criteria, the resulting premiums will vary, based on the driver and the individual circumstances. (So even if your friend has a great low cost auto insurance plan, that same company will not necessarily offer the same low rate to you.)
Get Online Quotes to Save Time
It is a relatively straightforward process to obtain multiple auto insurance quotes online. Set aside ten minutes of your time to enter information about your specific needs and situation. Whether you are a young driver, or looking to reduce the costs of insuring a student driver, you may be pleasantly surprised by the savings.
